GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS - Working Hard to Protect the Building Industry

By becoming a member and supporting the Southern Utah Home Builders Association (SUHBA), you are supporting the local building industry and providing the means necessary to advocate to keep housing a priority in our community.

The following is a brief introduction into the SUHBA Government Affairs program:

  • Monitor local municipalities throughout the entire Washington County for issues which impact the building industry.
  • Monitor and communicate to our members the local, state, and national issues which require input from our locally affected members.
  • Educate consumers on the importance of using licensed and insured contractors. SUHBA members adhere to a Code of Ethics. 
  • Encourage and assist local communities in looking for affordability of housing as an issue that affects us all.
  • Provide input to local and state officials on code and construction standard issues.
  • Improve working relationships between general building contractors/trade contractors and building inspectors.
  • Review of capital facilities plans from municipalities and give input for future planning and development.
  • Prepare and supply data to individuals within our community on building demographics and trends.
  • Support elected officials who are working to protect the housing industry.
  • Actively involved in organizations like the Washington County Economic Development Council, St. George Chamber of Commerce, Washington County Board of Realtors, Dixie Applied Technology College, and Dixie State College.

Santa Clara Culinary Water System Master Plan, Capital Facilities Plan, & Water Impact Fee Analysis - July 2010

The City Council of the City of Santa Clara will hold a Public Hearing at 5:05 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, in the City Council Chamber of the Santa Clara Town Hall at 2603 Santa Clara Drive, Santa Clara, Utah.  The purpose of the hearing is to consider adoption of Ordinance 2010-12 adopting a Culinary Water System Master Plan, Capital Facilities Plan & Water Impact Fee Analysis dated July 2010; imposing Water System Impact Fees; providing for the calculation and collection of such fees; providing for the appeal, accounting and severability of the same; and other related matters.
